In the Age of Information, Ignorance is a Choice

Watching the RNC is incredibly sad…To see thousands cheer, and to know millions at home doing the same, for a political party that so obviously despises every single one of them.  It goes beyond anger at the ignorance to utter sadness for the reality.  – Right off a Cliff

Hey kids,

It was ironic to me that on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech that the republicans approved a platform of discrimination.  I find it ironic that on the date that a Christian man spoke of equality that the GOP officially nominated a man for president that wears magic underwear, believes that God lives on a planet named Kolob and belongs to a church that took until 1978 to accept blacks.  I find it ironic that on the same date that Dr. King stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and inspired thousands to be better humans that speakers stood at a podium in Tampa telling us that denying healthcare to 50 million US citizens is a good idea and that denying women the right to make their own decisions about their own bodies is also a good idea.  And I find it terrifying that a group of people that are so full of hate could take control of our country.

I do not cry very often.  It’s just not in my nature.  However, I felt like Iron Eyes Cody (aka the “Crying Indian” from the Keep America Beautiful ad in 1971) seeing thousands of people cheering for what was essentially a return to the dark ages and an end to progress.  To see people cheering for tax cuts for the wealthy and higher taxes for themselves was sickening.  (BTW, I decided to play a drinking game during the RNC.  Every time I saw an African-American I was going to drink a shot.  At the end of the night I was more sober than a teetotaler) I was completely disgusted when I read the story this morning that an RNC attendee threw nuts at an African-American camera woman from CNN and said to her “this is how we feed animals”.  I fear for the future of America.

There are so many things about the republicans and their followers that are completely despicable that it boggles one’s mind.  For example, Romney has been running ads attacking President Obama’s waiver policy on welfare.  The ad is a blatant, out and out lie and has been criticized for lacking any factual information.  It was rated “pants on fire” by Politifact and given “Four Pinocchio’s” by the Washington Post.  Yet, this did not stop the Romney “lies, lies and more lies” campaign.  They responded by saying that they will not be dissuaded by fact checkers.  Do we really need such people running our country?  There are plenty of places where you can get the facts, but the facts are irrelevant to Romney.  He wants power and more money.  Whatever lies he can get the gullible Americans to believe, the better.

I’ve said before that anyone that votes for Romney/Ryan is ignorant and/or a racist and I stand by that.  The ignorance of people that fail to take the time to learn the facts and realize they are voting against their own interests cannot be overstated.  I have long ago come to the conclusion that having a black man in the White House is keeping them up at night.  I can’t say it any clearer, but the more I speak the less I am heard.  Take a close look at the Ryan tax plan.  Economists have said it is a disaster for our country and will not work.  I’ll break it down as simply as I can for my slow minded republican readers:  It cuts taxes for the wealthy while at the same time cutting services for the poor, the elderly and children.  Why do you people care so much for a fetus, but as soon as that fetus is born you don’t give a shit?  Please explain.  (And BTW, since the GOP wants to say that life begins at conception does that make me nine months older?  Just asking)

I found a great blog yesterday that breaks down all of Romney’s lies and provides the facts.  If facts mean nothing to you and you want to continue blindly following the pied piper, go ahead, but if you are interested in reading the facts you can see them here.

“You have given the wealthiest portion of the population a tax break.  And now you are coming before the American People and saying, we don’t have enough money to protect the sick and the old.” – Senator Bernie Sanders

Looking back at the quote from Senator Sanders makes me wonder, again, how these people have the nerve to refer to themselves as Christians.  I don’t recall Jesus saying anything about giving tax breaks to the wealthy and that the money will “trickle down”, but I do recall him saying to care for the sick and the poor.

Tonight Paul Ryan, a self-proclaimed follower of Ayn Rand, will address the RNC.  He will lie to them and lie to you.  He will say that Obamacare is too costly for America and needs to be repealed, despite the fact that economists agree that repealing it will cause more debt.  He will discuss his plan to say “f*** you” to elderly Americans by turning Medicare into Groupons.  If you are elderly or one day hope to be elderly then you cannot accept his lies.  He and Romney must be stopped.

And as always, we have demons in our society, such as the talking ass clowns at Fox and the ultimate pile of shit Rush Limbaugh, applauding the republicans, saying stupid stuff and proliferating the lies about President Obama.  We all know by now that Limbaugh, as predicted by me and many others, has blamed Obama for Isaac.  Now I don’t know about you, but the idea of a president with the ability to control the weather is awesome.  But, as always Limbaugh must outdo himself daily and say worse and worse things every day.  Well yesterday he said that he hoped Hurricane Isaac would kill “poor Democrats” in New Orleans so that Louisiana would become a more republican state.  His idea was to fill bags with money and place them on the levee so that the “poor Democrats” would go down there, steal the bags and then drown.  What a nice guy.  Though he didn’t say so directly, it does not take a genius to realize that by saying “poor Democrats” he means African-Americans.  This man is completely despicable and his still being on the air and taken seriously by the republican party is a disgrace.   If you listen to this piece of garbage…well, I don’t even want to know you.

If you cannot put aside your own prejudices for the betterment of America then what kind of person are you?  You wave your flags, you sing your patriotic songs, you honor our troops, but if you want a president to fail, in reality you hate America. If you really supported our troops you wouldn’t want them coming home to a society where they pay more taxes than Romney.   Boner and his cronies in the house have done nothing with the jobs bill, yet have had dozens of votes about Obamacare.  They stoke the hatred machine and you buy right into it.  STOP IT.   Before I start going on endlessly about the horrors of extremists that are preparing for a race war against Obama should he be re-elected, I will leave you with one more quote.

“What’s more disturbing, with the polls showing a dead heat, Mr. Romney’s approach appears to be working.  But just keep this in mind that the ultimate tragedy if Mr. Romney wins this race is that America will have elected a man who so crudely embodies the singular belief that the ends justify the means, no matter what the costs” – Martin Bashir

  1. You are a genius. If only more people could see the truth.
